Should My Air Ducts Be Cleaned Every Year?

Numerous homeowners throughout the Northeast, including those in upstate New York have come to realize the many benefits that can come from having their air ducts cleaned. It provides cleaner air for you to breathe, save money on your electric bill and your home will be cleaner overall with less dust everywhere. Many people wonder how often they should have their air ducts cleaned and if it should be on an annual basis.

In the majority of cases, it is not necessary to have your ducts cleaned annually. If you find that you live in extremely dusty conditions then it may be a good idea. Otherwise, for most people your ducts should be cleaned approximately every three to five years, possibly sooner if you have pets with hair. In addition, if you have had reconstruction or remodeling in your home or if you just recently purchased a new home then you may need to have your air ducts cleaned.

According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) you should get your air ducts cleaned no matter how long it has been if you suspect mold in your ducts, or if you’ve noticed any rodents in your home, including your ducts. Also, if you see dust actually coming out from your vents, then you should schedule a time to get your ducts cleaned.

If you have never had your air ducts cleaned or it has been some time or you have any of the signs described then contact an air duct cleaning professional for assistance. We will clean out your ducts and provide you with cleaner air to breathe. Contact Comprehensive Mold Management at 585-235-6182 for your air quality questions.
